2012-05-07hw/ac97: Mask out unused bits of volume controlsHans de Goede
The Linux ac97 drivers does a number of register read/write tests to see how much resolution a volume control actually has. This patch takes this into account by masking out any bits written to a volume control reg which should not be there according to the spec. After this the Linux ac97 driver correctly uses a range of 0 - 0x1f for the PCM out volume, as stated in the spec, and we can fix the FIXME in update_combined_volume_out(). 2012-05-07hw/ac97: Make a bunch of mixer registers read onlyHans de Goede
The Linux ac97 driver tries to see if optional things like video input volume control are available in 2 ways: 1) See if the mute bit is set after reset, if it is no further tests are done 2) If the mute bit is not set it does a write/read test of the mute bit This patch changes our ac97 to conform to what the Linux driver expects, it initializes registers for things which we don't emulate to 0 (so the mute bit is not set) and makes them read only. This causes Linux to now longer show the following (functionless) controls in alsamixer: Master Mono vol + mute 3d Control toggle PCM out pre / post 3d select Surround toggle CD vol + mute Mic vol + mute Mic boost toggle Mic mic1 / mic2 select Video vol + mute Phone vol + mute Beep mono vol + mute Aux vol + mute Mono "output mic" / "mix" select Sigmatel 4 speaker stereo toggle Sigmatel ADC 6Db att toggle Sigmatel DAC 6Db att toggle This patch was also tested with a Windows XP guest and there it also makes a number of functionless mixer controls go away. 2012-02-03qdev: register all types natively through QEMU Object ModelAnthony Liguori
This was done in a mostly automated fashion. I did it in three steps and then rebased it into a single step which avoids repeatedly touching every file in the tree. The first step was a sed-based addition of the parent type to the subclass registration functions. The second step was another sed-based removal of subclass registration functions while also adding virtual functions from the base class into a class_init function as appropriate. Finally, a python script was used to convert the DeviceInfo structures and qdev_register_subclass functions to TypeInfo structures, class_init functions, and type_register_static calls. 2011-11-07ac97: don't override the pci subsystem idGerd Hoffmann
This patch removes the code lines which set the subsystem id for the emulated ac97 card to 8086:0000. Due to the device id being zero the subsystem id isn't vaild anyway. With the patch applied the sound card gets the default qemu subsystem id (1af4:1100) instead. Don't overwrite pci header type. Otherwise, multi function bit which pci_init_header_type() sets appropriately is lost. Anyway PCI_HEADER_TYPE_NORMAL is zero, so it is unnecessary to zero which is already zero cleared. how to test: run qemu and issue info pci to see whether a device in question is normal device, not pci-to-pci bridge. 2009-08-27qdev: add return value to init() callbacks.Gerd Hoffmann
Sorry folks, but it has to be. One more of these invasive qdev patches. We have a serious design bug in the qdev interface: device init callbacks can't signal failure because the init() callback has no return value. This patch fixes it. We have already one case in-tree where this is needed: Try -device virtio-blk-pci (without drive= specified) and watch qemu segfault. This patch fixes it. With usb+scsi being converted to qdev we'll get more devices where the init callback can fail for various reasons. Add the parameter 'order' to qemu_register_reset and sort callbacks on registration. On system reset, callbacks with lower order will be invoked before those with higher order. Update all existing users to the standard order 0. Note: At least for x86, the existing users seem to assume that handlers are called in their registration order. Therefore, the patch preserves this property. If someone feels bored, (s)he could try to identify this dependency and express it properly on callback registration. 2008-06-08Do not scare users with ominous error messages from AUD_open*malc
Apparently Windows Server 2003 sets the frequency for either mc or pi voice to zero, which in turn triggers a call to audio_bug from this chain: open_voice -> AUD_open_in -> audio_bug (audio_validate_settings): A bug was just triggered in AUD_open_in ... Context: audio: frequency=0 nchannels=2 fmt=S16 endianness=little But since no attempt by the said OS is made to actually use the voice with zero frequency this can be considered normal behavior. Hence if zero freqency situation is encountered - close current voice, and make noises if the guest tries to use it.
