2011-08-08ALSA: sound/core/pcm_compat.c: adjust array indexJulia Lawall
commit ca9380fd68514c7bc952282c1b4fc70607e9fe43 upstream. Convert array index from the loop bound to the loop index. A simplified version of the semantic patch that fixes this problem is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @@ expression e1,e2,ar; @@ for(e1 = 0; e1 < e2; e1++) { <... ar[ - e2 + e1 ] ...> } // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-08-08ASoC: Fix Blackfin I2S _pointer() implementation return in bounds valuesMark Brown
commit e999dc50404d401150a5429b6459473a691fd1a0 upstream. The Blackfin DMA controller can report one frame beyond the end of the buffer in the wraparound case but ALSA requires that the pointer always be in the buffer. Do the wraparound to handle this. A similar bug is likely to apply to the other Blackfin PCM drivers but the code is less obvious to inspection and I don't have a user to test. commit 0a1896b27b030529ec770aefd790544a1bdb7d5a upstream. BugLink: https://launchpad.net/bugs/792712 The original reporter states that sound from the internal speakers is inaudible until using the model=auto quirk. This symptom is due to an existing quirk mask for 0x102802b* that uses the model=dell quirk. 2011-04-14sound/oss: remove offset from load_patch callbacksDan Rosenberg
commit b769f49463711205d57286e64cf535ed4daf59e9 upstream. Was: [PATCH] sound/oss/midi_synth: prevent underflow, use of uninitialized value, and signedness issue The offset passed to midi_synth_load_patch() can be essentially arbitrary. If it's greater than the header length, this will result in a copy_from_user(dst, src, negative_val). While this will just return -EFAULT on x86, on other architectures this may cause memory corruption. Additionally, the length field of the sysex_info structure may not be initialized prior to its use. Finally, a signed comparison may result in an unintentionally large loop. On suggestion by Takashi Iwai, version two removes the offset argument from the load_patch callbacks entirely, which also resolves similar issues in opl3. Compile tested only. v3 adjusts comments and hopefully gets copy offsets right. 2011-01-07sound: Prevent buffer overflow in OSS load_mixer_volumesDan Rosenberg
commit d81a12bc29ae4038770e05dce4ab7f26fd5880fb upstream. The load_mixer_volumes() function, which can be triggered by unprivileged users via the SOUND_MIXER_SETLEVELS ioctl, is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. Because the provided "name" argument isn't guaranteed to be NULL terminated at the expected 32 bytes, it's possible to overflow past the end of the last element in the mixer_vols array. Further exploitation can result in an arbitrary kernel write (via subsequent calls to load_mixer_volumes()) leading to privilege escalation, or arbitrary kernel reads via get_mixer_levels(). In addition, the strcmp() may leak bytes beyond the mixer_vols array. commit aa73aec6c385e2c797ac25cc7ccf0318031de7c8 upstream. When a driver module is unloaded and the last still open file is a raw MIDI device, the card and its devices will be actually freed in the snd_card_file_remove() call when that file is closed. Afterwards, rmidi and rmidi->card point into freed memory, so the module pointer is likely to be garbage. (This was introduced by commit 9a1b64caac82aa02cb74587ffc798e6f42c6170a.) commit 5591bf07225523600450edd9e6ad258bb877b779 upstream. The snd_ctl_new() function in sound/core/control.c allocates space for a snd_kcontrol struct by performing arithmetic operations on a user-provided size without checking for integer overflow. If a user provides a large enough size, an overflow will occur, the allocated chunk will be too small, and a second user-influenced value will be written repeatedly past the bounds of this chunk. This code is reachable by unprivileged users who have permission to open a /dev/snd/controlC* device (on many distros, this is group "audio") via the SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_ELEM_ADD and SNDRV_CTL_IOCTL_ELEM_REPLACE ioctls. 2010-10-28ALSA: oxygen: fix analog capture on Claro halo cardsErik J. Staab
commit 0873a5ae747847ee55a63db409dff3476e45bcd9 upstream. On the HT-Omega Claro halo card, the ADC data must be captured from the second I2S input. Using the default first input, which isn't connected to anything, would result in silence. Signed-off-by: Erik J. 2010-10-28ALSA: sound/pci/rme9652: prevent reading uninitialized stack memoryDan Rosenberg
commit e68d3b316ab7b02a074edc4f770e6a746390cb7d upstream. The SNDRV_HDSP_IOCTL_GET_CONFIG_INFO and SNDRV_HDSP_IOCTL_GET_CONFIG_INFO ioctls in hdspm.c and hdsp.c allow unprivileged users to read uninitialized kernel stack memory, because several fields of the hdsp{m}_config_info structs declared on the stack are not altered or zeroed before being copied back to the user. This patch takes care of it. Signed-off-by: Dan Rosenberg <dan.j.rosenberg@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2010-09-20ALSA: hda - Handle pin NID 0x1a on ALC259/269Takashi Iwai
commit b08b1637ce1c0196970348bcabf40f04b6b3d58e upstream. The pin NID 0x1a should be handled as well as NID 0x1b. Also added comments. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Cc: David Henningsson <david.henningsson@canonical.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2010-09-20ALSA: hda - Handle missing NID 0x1b on ALC259 codecTakashi Iwai
commit 5d4abf93ea3192cc666430225a29a4978c97c57d upstream. Since ALC259/269 use the same parser of ALC268, the pin 0x1b was ignored as an invalid widget. Just add this NID to handle properly. This will add the missing mixer controls for some devices. 2010-09-20ALSA: seq/oss - Fix double-free at error path of snd_seq_oss_open()Takashi Iwai
commit 27f7ad53829f79e799a253285318bff79ece15bd upstream. The error handling in snd_seq_oss_open() has several bad codes that do dereferecing released pointers and double-free of kmalloc'ed data. The object dp is release in free_devinfo() that is called via private_free callback. The rest shouldn't touch this object any more. The patch changes delete_port() to call kfree() in any case, and gets rid of unnecessary calls of destructors in snd_seq_oss_open(). Fixes CVE-2010-3080.
