2013-06-20drivers/rtc/rtc-twl.c: fix missing device_init_wakeup() when booted with ↵Tony Lindgren
device tree commit 24b8256a1fb28d357bc6fa09184ba29b4255ba5c upstream. When booted in legacy mode device_init_wakeup() gets called by drivers/mfd/twl-core.c when the children are initialized. However, when booted using device tree, the children are created with of_platform_populate() instead add_children(). This means that the RTC driver will not have device_init_wakeup() set, and we need to call it from the driver probe like RTC drivers typically do. Without this we cannot test PM wake-up events on omaps for cases where there may not be any physical wake-up event. 2013-05-07drivers/rtc/rtc-cmos.c: don't disable hpet emulation on suspendDerek Basehore
commit e005715efaf674660ae59af83b13822567e3a758 upstream. There's a bug where rtc alarms are ignored after the rtc cmos suspends but before the system finishes suspend. Since hpet emulation is disabled and it still handles the interrupts, a wake event is never registered which is done from the rtc layer. This patch reverts commit d1b2efa83fbf ("rtc: disable hpet emulation on suspend") which disabled hpet emulation. To fix the problem mentioned in that commit, hpet_rtc_timer_init() is called directly on resume. The century flag is only handled in vt8500_rtc_read_time, but not set in vt8500_rtc_set_time. This patch corrects the behaviour of the century flag. commit 7dbfb315b2aaef0a115765946bf3026d074c33a7 upstream. Correct the offset by subtracting 20 from tm_hour before taking the modulo 12. [ "Why 20?" I hear you ask. Or at least I did. Here's the reason why: RS5C348_BIT_PM is 32, and is - stupidly - included in the RS5C348_HOURS_MASK define. So it's really subtracting out that bit to get "hour+12". But then because it does things modulo 12, it needs to add the 12 in again afterwards anyway. This code is confused. It would be much clearer if RS5C348_HOURS_MASK just didn't include the RS5C348_BIT_PM bit at all, then it wouldn't need to do the silly subtract either. Whatever. commit 8dcebaa9a0ae8a0487f4342f3d56d2cb1c980860 upstream. On some platforms, bootloaders are known to do some interesting RTC programming. Without going into the obscurities as to why this may be the case, suffice it to say the the driver should not make any assumptions about the state of the RTC when the driver loads. In particular, the driver probe should be sure that all interrupts are disabled until otherwise programmed. This was discovered when finding bursty I2C traffic every second on Overo platforms. This I2C overhead was keeping the SoC from hitting deep power states. The cause was found to be the RTC firing every second on the I2C-connected TWL PMIC. Special thanks to Felipe Balbi for suggesting to look for a rogue driver as the source of the I2C traffic rather than the I2C driver itself. Special thanks to Steve Sakoman for helping track down the source of the continuous RTC interrups on the Overo boards. commit 9dccf55f4cb011a7552a8a2749a580662f5ed8ed upstream. The tamper evident features of the RTC include the "write counter" which is a pseudo-random number regenerated whenever we set the RTC. Since this value is unpredictable it should provide some useful seeding to the random number generator. Only do this on boot since the goal is to seed the pool rather than add useful entropy. 2012-04-12drivers/rtc/rtc-twl.c: use static register while reading timeKonstantin Shlyakhovoy
RTC stores time and date in several registers. Due to the fact that these registers can't be read instantaneously, there is a chance that reading from counting registers gives an error of one minute, one hour, one day, etc. To address this issue, the RTC has hardware support to copy the RTC counting registers to static shadowed registers. The current implementation does not use this feature, and in a stress test, we can reproduce this error at a rate of around two times per 300000 readings. Fix the implementation to ensure that the right snapshot of time is captured. The chip_desc table is suboptimal. Currently it requires an entry for every new chip type, even if it is empty. This has already been forgotten for the ds1388. Refactor the code, so new entries are only needed, when they chip type really needs a (non-empty) description. Also make the table visually more appealing. 2012-03-23drivers/rtc: remove IRQF_DISABLEDYong Zhang
Since commit e58aa3d2d0cc ("genirq: run irq handlers with interrupts disabled") we run all interrupt handlers with interrupts disabled and we even check and yell when an interrupt handler returns with interrupts enabled - see commit b738a50a2026 ("genirq: warn when handler enables interrupts"). So now this flag is a NOOP and can be removed. Following changes are made as part of this change: 1. As TWL RTC supports periodic interrupt, the correct event should be RTC_PF instead of RTC_UF. 2. No need to initialize variable "events" to 0 & then OR it with the event values. Hence fixing it. 2012-03-23drivers/rtc/rtc-twl.c: enable RTC irrespective of its prior stateVenu Byravarasu
As part of probe, before enabling RTC, RTC_CTRL register is read to check if it is already running. If RTC is used by kernel alone, then this read is not required. Even if RTC was enabled already by boot loader, setting STOP_RTC bit again should not harm. Hence removed unwanted read operation.
