2008-03-26[POWERPC] Start removing linux,network-index in favour of aliasesDavid Gibson
This patch alters the bootwrapper for a number of machines (roubhly all 4xx based cuboot or treeboot platforms) to use aliases instead of the linux,network-index hack to work out which MAC address to attach to which ethernet device node. The now obsolete linux,network-index properties are removed from the corresponding device trees. This won't break backwards compatiblity, because in cases where this fixup code is relevant, the device tree is part of the kernel image. The references to linux,network-index are removed from booting-without-of.txt. Not only is it now deprecated, but as a hack applicable only when the device tree blob and fixup code were in the same image, this property never belonged in booting-without-of.txt which describes the interface between the kernel and firmware or bootloaders which produce a device tree. By the time the device tree reaches the kernel, all the MAC addresses must be fully filled in. 2007-12-23[POWERPC] 4xx: Rework clock probing in boot wrapperBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This reworks the boot wrapper library function that probes the chip clocks. Better separate the base function that is used on 440GX,SPe,EP,... from the uart fixups as those need different device-tree path on different processors. Also, rework the function itself based on the arch/ppc code from Eugene Surovegin which I find more readable, and which handles one more bypass case. Also handle the subtle difference between 440EP/EPx and 440SPe/GX, on the former, PerClk is derived from the PLB clock while on the later, it's derived from the OPB. 2007-12-23[POWERPC] 4xx: Adds decoding of 440SPE memory size to boot wrapper libraryBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This adds a function to the bootwrapper 4xx library to decode memory size on 440SPE processors. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Signed-off-by: Josh Boyer <jwboyer@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2007-12-11[POWERPC] Use embedded libfdt in the bootwrapperDavid Gibson
This incorporates libfdt (from the source embedded in an earlier commit) into the wrapper.a library used by the bootwrapper. This includes adding a libfdt_env.h file, which the libfdt sources need in order to integrate into the bootwrapper environment, and a libfdt-wrapper.c which provides glue to connect the bootwrapper's abstract device tree callbacks to the libfdt functions. In addition, this changes the various wrapper and platform files to use libfdt functions instead of the older flatdevtree.c library. 2007-08-20[POWERPC] 4xx bootwrapper reworksJosh Boyer
Make the fixup_memsize function common for all of 4xx as several chips share the same SDRAM controller. Also add functions to reset 40x chips and quiesce the ethernet. Signed-off-by: Josh Boyer <jwboyer@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2007-08-17[POWERPC] Fixes to allow use of Ebony's flash chips through physmap_ofDavid Gibson
This patch contains a handful of small fixes to allow the Ebony's flash to be exposed as MTD devices via the physmap_of driver. Specifically it: - Makes a small addition to the device tree and zImage wrapper to record the correct address for the flash in the device tree based on the board switches as reported via an FPGA register. - Prohibits building the old hard-coded "Ebony" flash map on arch/powerpc kernels, in favour of using physmap_of's device tree based approach. - Enables MTD and physmap_of in the Ebony defconfig. 2007-06-14[POWERPC] Derive ebc ranges property from EBC registersDavid Gibson
In the device tree for Ebony, the 'ranges' property in the node for the EBC bridge shows the mappings from the chip select / address lines actually used for the EBC peripherals into the address space of the OPB. At present, these mappings are hardcoded in ebony.dts for the mappings set up by the OpenBIOS firmware when it configures the EBC bridge. This replaces the hardcoded mappings with code in the zImage to read the EBC configuration registers and create an appropriate ranges property based on them. This should make the zImage and kernel more robust to changes in firmware configuration. In particular, some of the Ebony's DIP switches can change the effective address of the Flash and other peripherals in OPB space. With this patch, the kernel will be able to cope with at least some of the possible variations. 2007-06-14[POWERPC] Factor zImage's 44x reset code out of ebony.cDavid Gibson
The ebony_exit() function which resets the Ebony board should in fact be common to most if not all 44x boards. This moves the function out into 44x.c, renaming it, so it can be used by other 44x platforms. 2007-05-08[POWERPC] Support for the Ebony 440GP reference board in arch/powerpcDavid Gibson
This adds platform support code for the Ebony (440GP) evaluation board. This includes both code in arch/powerpc/platforms/44x for board initialization, and zImage wrapper code to correctly tweak the flattened device tree based on information from the firmware. The zImage supports both IBM OpenBIOS (aka "treeboot") and old versions of uboot which don't support a flattened device tree.
