2012-10-22common: Convert the U-Boot commands to LG-arraysMarek Vasut
This patch converts the old method of creating a list of command onto the new LG-arrays code. The old u_boot_cmd section is converted to new u_boot_list_cmd subsection and LG-array macros used as needed. Minor adjustments had to be made to the common code to work with the LG-array macros, mostly the fixup_cmdtable() calls are now passed the ll_entry_start and ll_entry_count instead of linker-generated symbols. The command.c had to be adjusted as well so it would use the newly introduced LG-array API instead of directly using linker-generated symbols. This patch fixes following warning: ---8<--- board.c: In function 'board_init_r': board.c:257: warning: unused variable 's' --->8--- Patch de30122bb58fee7b0f94bcfabab595b6ad757336 missed to remove this variable too. Signed-off-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.com>
2012-05-15net: move bootfile init into eth_initializeMike Frysinger
All arches init this the same way, so move the logic into the core net code to avoid duplicating it everywhere else. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org> Reviewed-by: Joe Hershberger <joe.hershberger@ni.com>
2012-05-15net: punt bd->bi_ip_addrMike Frysinger
This field gets read in one place (by "bdinfo"), and we can replace that with getenv("ipaddr"). After all, the bi_ip_addr field is kept up-to-date implicitly with the value of the ipaddr env var. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org> Reviewed-by: Joe Hershberger <joe.hershberger@ni.com>
2012-03-18bootstage: Replace show_boot_progress/error() with bootstage_...()Simon Glass
These calls should not be made directly any more, since bootstage will call the show_boot_...() functions as needed. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2012-03-18bootstage: Make use of BOOTSTAGE_ID_RUN_OS in show_boot_progress()Simon Glass
This changes the number 15 as used in boot_stage_progress() to use the new name provided for it. This is a separate patch because it touches so many files. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Acked-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2012-03-13ATMEL: remove old atmel_mci driverSven Schnelle
All boards are using the gen_atmel_mci driver now, so no need to carry the old driver around. Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <svens@stackframe.org> Signed-off-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.com>
2012-03-13ATMEL: use generic mmc frameworkSven Schnelle
gen_atmel_mci works on AVR32 as well, so no need to use the legacy mmc driver. This also has the nice side effect of being able to use SDHC cards an those boards. Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <svens@stackframe.org> Signed-off-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.com>
2011-10-23avr32: Use getenv_ulong() in place of getenv(), strtoulSimon Glass
This changes the board code to use the new getenv_ulong() function. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2011-10-05net: drop !NET_MULTI codeMike Frysinger
This is long over due. All but two net drivers have been converted, but those have now been dropped. The only thing left to do is actually delete all references to NET_MULTI and code that is compiled when that is not defined. So here we scrub the core code. 2011-07-28unify version_stringAndreas Bießmann
This patch removes the architecture specific implementation of version_string where possible. Some architectures use a special place and therefore we provide U_BOOT_VERSION_STRING definition and a common weak symbol version_string. 2011-05-18avr32: add ATAG_BOARDINFOAndreas Bießmann
This patch adds a new ATAG_BORADINFO to U-Boot. This tag is intended to hand over the bd->bi_board_number to the linux kernel for early stage board information like a board revision or other kind of board specific decisions necessary before the linux peripherial drivers are up. 2011-03-27rename _end to __bss_end__Po-Yu Chuang
Currently, _end is used for end of BSS section. We want _end to mean end of u-boot image, so we rename _end to __bss_end__ first. Signed-off-by: Po-Yu Chuang <ratbert@faraday-tech.com>
2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2010-10-29Replace CONFIG_RELOC_FIXUP_WORKS by CONFIG_NEEDS_MANUAL_RELOCWolfgang Denk
By now, the majority of architectures have working relocation support, so the few remaining architectures have become exceptions. To make this more obvious, we make working relocation now the default case, and flag the remaining cases with CONFIG_NEEDS_MANUAL_RELOC. 2010-09-19relocation: fixup cmdtableHeiko Schocher
fixup_cmdtable() did all work for fixing up the cmdtable, if CONFIG_RELOC_FIXUP_WORKS is not defined. CONFIG_RELOC_FIXUP_WORKS is missing for i386! 2010-09-03avr32: Add simple paging supportHaavard Skinnemoen
Use the MMU hardware to set up 1:1 mappings between physical and virtual addresses. This allows us to bypass the cache when accessing the flash without having to do any physical-to-virtual address mapping in the CFI driver. The virtual memory mappings are defined at compile time through a sorted array of virtual memory range objects. When a TLB miss exception happens, the exception handler does a binary search through the array until it finds a matching entry and loads it into the TLB. The u-boot image itself is covered by a fixed TLB entry which is never replaced. This makes the 'saveenv' command work again on ATNGW100 and other boards using the CFI driver, hopefully without breaking any rules. Signed-off-by: Haavard Skinnemoen <haavard.skinnemoen@atmel.com>
2010-08-04Rename getenv_r() into getenv_f()Wolfgang Denk
While running from flash, i. e. before relocation, we have only a limited C runtime environment without writable data segment. In this phase, some configurations (for example with environment in EEPROM) must not use the normal getenv(), but a special function. This function had been called getenv_r(), with the idea that the "_r" suffix would mean the same as in the _r_eentrant versions of some of the C library functions (for example getdate vs. getdate_r, getgrent vs. getgrent_r, etc.). Unfortunately this was a misleading name, as in U-Boot the "_r" generally means "running from RAM", i. e. _after_ relocation. To avoid confusion, rename into getenv_f() [as "running from flash"] Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Acked-by: Detlev Zundel <dzu@denx.de>
2010-07-04Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk
The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ...
