Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!

+ * misc.c
+ *
+ * This is a collection of several routines from gzip-1.0.3
+ * adapted for Linux.
+ *
+ * malloc by Hannu Savolainen 1993 and Matthias Urlichs 1994
+ *
+ * Modified for ARM Linux by Russell King
+ *
+ * Nicolas Pitre <nico@visuaide.com> 1999/04/14 :
+ * For this code to run directly from Flash, all constant variables must
+ * be marked with 'const' and all other variables initialized at run-time
+ * only. This way all non constant variables will end up in the bss segment,
+ * which should point to addresses in RAM and cleared to 0 on start.
+ * This allows for a much quicker boot time.
+ *
+ * Modified for Alpha, from the ARM version, by Jay Estabrook 2003.
