<< Please pull mpc5xxx patches for v3.9. The bestcomm driver is moved to drivers/dma (so it will be usable for ColdFire). mpc5121 now provides common dtsi file and existing mpc5121 device trees use it. There are some minor clock init and sparse fixes and updates for various 5200 device tree files from Grant. Some fixes for bugs in the mpc5121 DIU driver are also included here (Andrew Morton suggested to push them via my mpc5xxx tree). >>
2013-01-03POWERPC: drivers: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. 2013-01-03powerpc, dma: move bestcomm driver from arch/powerpc/sysdev to drivers/dmaPhilippe De Muyter
The bestcomm dma hardware, and some of its users like the FEC ethernet component, is used in different FreeScale parts, including non-powerpc parts like the ColdFire MCF547x & MCF548x families. Don't keep the driver hidden in arch/powerpc where it is inaccessible for other arches. .c files are moved to drivers/dma/bestcomm, while .h files are moved to include/linux/fsl/bestcomm. Makefiles, Kconfigs and #include directives are updated for the new file locations. Tested by recompiling for MPC5200 with all bestcomm users enabled. 2012-09-14powerpc/mpc52xx_lpbfifo: optionally defer fifo transfer startAnatolij Gustschin
Currently fifo transfer is started when submitting a transfer request. Add posibility to defer the fifo transfer and start it later by calling additional function. As long as there is no other non-const variable marked __initdata in the same compilation unit it doesn't hurt. 2012-03-21Merge branch 'next' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/benh/powerpc Pull powerpc merge from Benjamin Herrenschmidt: "Here's the powerpc batch for this merge window. It is going to be a bit more nasty than usual as in touching things outside of arch/powerpc mostly due to the big iSeriesectomy :-) We finally got rid of the bugger (legacy iSeries support) which was a PITA to maintain and that nobody really used anymore. Here are some of the highlights: - Legacy iSeries is gone. Thanks Stephen ! There's still some bits and pieces remaining if you do a grep -ir series arch/powerpc but they are harmless and will be removed in the next few weeks hopefully. - The 'fadump' functionality (Firmware Assisted Dump) replaces the previous (equivalent) "pHyp assisted dump"... it's a rewrite of a mechanism to get the hypervisor to do crash dumps on pSeries, the new implementation hopefully being much more reliable. Thanks Mahesh Salgaonkar. - The "EEH" code (pSeries PCI error handling & recovery) got a big spring cleaning, motivated by the need to be able to implement a new backend for it on top of some new different type of firwmare. The work isn't complete yet, but a good chunk of the cleanups is there. Note that this adds a field to struct device_node which is not very nice and which Grant objects to. I will have a patch soon that moves that to a powerpc private data structure (hopefully before rc1) and we'll improve things further later on (hopefully getting rid of the need for that pointer completely). Thanks Gavin Shan. - I dug into our exception & interrupt handling code to improve the way we do lazy interrupt handling (and make it work properly with "edge" triggered interrupt sources), and while at it found & fixed a wagon of issues in those areas, including adding support for page fault retry & fatal signals on page faults. - Your usual random batch of small fixes & updates, including a bunch of new embedded boards, both Freescale and APM based ones, etc..." 2012-02-16irq_domain: Replace irq_alloc_host() with revmap-specific initializersGrant Likely
Each revmap type has different arguments for setting up the revmap. This patch splits up the generator functions so that each revmap type can do its own setup and the user doesn't need to keep track of how each revmap type handles the arguments. This patch also adds a host_data argument to the generators. There are cases where the host_data pointer will be needed before the function returns. ie. the legacy map calls the .map callback for each irq before returning. v2: - Add void *host_data argument to irq_domain_add_*() functions - fixed failure to compile - Moved IRQ_DOMAIN_MAP_* defines into irqdomain.c Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Cc: Rob Herring <rob.herring@calxeda.com> Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Cc: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Cc: Milton Miller <miltonm@bga.com> Tested-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>
2012-02-14irq_domain/powerpc: Use common irq_domain structure instead of irq_hostGrant Likely
This patch drops the powerpc-specific irq_host structures and uses the common irq_domain strucutres defined in linux/irqdomain.h. It also fixes all the users to use the new structure names. Renaming irq_host to irq_domain has been discussed for a long time, and this patch is a step in the process of generalizing the powerpc virq code to be usable by all architecture. An astute reader will notice that this patch actually removes the irq_host structure instead of renaming it. This is because the irq_domain structure already exists in include/linux/irqdomain.h and has the needed data members. 2011-05-19powerpc/mpc62xx_pic: Fix get_irq handling of NO_IRQMilton Miller
If none of irq category bits were set mpc52xx_get_irq() would pass NO_IRQ_IGNORE (-1) to irq_linear_revmap, which does an unsigned compare and declares the interrupt above the linear map range. It then punts to irq_find_mapping, which performs a linear search of all irqs, which will likely miss and only then return NO_IRQ. If no status bit is set, then we should return NO_IRQ directly. The interrupt should not be suppressed from spurious counting, in fact that is the definition of supurious. 2011-01-01of/flattree: Add of_flat_dt_match() helper functionGrant Likely
This patch adds of_flat_dt_match() which tests a node for compatibility with a list of values and converts the relevant powerpc platform code to use it. This approach simplifies the board support code a bit. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Reviewed-by: Stephen Neuendorffer <stephen.neuendorffer@xilinx.com>

2010-11-16suspend: constify platform_suspend_opsLionel Debroux
While at it, fix two checkpatch errors. Several non-const struct instances constified by this patch were added after the introduction of platform_suspend_ops in checkpatch.pl's list of "should be const" structs (79404849e90a41ea2109bd0e2f7c7164b0c4ce73). Patch against mainline. Inspired by hunks of the grsecurity patch, updated for newer kernels. 2010-09-08powerpc/5200: tighten up ac97 reset timingEric Millbrandt
Tighten up time timing around the gpio reset functionality. Add a 200ns delay before remuxing the pins back to ac97 to comply with the ac97 spec. Signed-off-by: Eric Millbrandt <emillbrandt@dekaresearch.com> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2010-09-08powerpc/5200: efika.c: Add of_node_put to avoid memory leakJulia Lawall
This function is implemented as though the function of_get_next_child does not increment the reference count of its result, but actually it does. Thus the patch adds of_node_put in error handling code and drops a call to of_node_get. The semantic match that finds this problem is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @r exists@ local idexpression x; expression E1; position p1,p2; @@ x@p1 = of_get_next_child(...); ... when != x = E1 of_node_get@p2(x) @script:python@ p1 << r.p1; p2 << r.p2; @@ cocci.print_main("call",p1) cocci.print_secs("get",p2) // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2010-08-06powerpc/5200: add mpc5200_psc_ac97_gpio_resetEric Millbrandt
Work around a silicon bug in the ac97 reset functionality of the mpc5200(b). The implementation of the ac97 "cold" reset is flawed. If the sync and output lines are high when reset is asserted the attached ac97 device may go into test mode. Avoid this by reconfiguring the psc to gpio mode and generating the reset manually. From MPC5200B User's Manual: "Some AC97 devices goes to a test mode, if the Sync line is high during the Res line is low (reset phase). To avoid this behavior the Sync line must be also forced to zero during the reset phase. To do that, the pin muxing should switch to GPIO mode and the GPIO control register should be used to control the output lines."
