When generating a dsc file the nb_commit and base_version are the same which means that the file looks like this: odp_1.12.0.0+git1.12.0.0+a5d7ade-0linaro1.dsc Use git describe --long to get the format tag-gitnumber-sha, then the dsc file will look like: odp_1.12.0.0+git0+a5d7ade-0linaro1.dsc This will ensure that users that does "apt-get update" when they have an ODP version installed will get newer versions installed.
