2012-03-18bootstage: Make use of BOOTSTAGE_ID_RUN_OS in show_boot_progress()Simon Glass
This changes the number 15 as used in boot_stage_progress() to use the new name provided for it. This is a separate patch because it touches so many files. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Acked-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2011-10-15punt unused clean/distclean targetsMike Frysinger
The top level Makefile does not do any recursion into subdirs when cleaning, so these clean/distclean targets in random arch/board dirs never get used. Punt them all. MAKEALL didn't report any errors related to this that I could see. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2011-06-03Blackfin: boards: build zlib dir with -O2Mike Frysinger
Now that the zlib code has been relocated to a dedicated subdir, make sure we still build it with -O2 for boards that want speed over size. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2011-04-08Blackfin: move CONFIG_BFIN_CPU back to board config.hMike Frysinger
This is a revert of 821ad16fa9900c as Wolfgang doesn't like the new code. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2011-04-08Blackfin: unify bootmode based LDR_FLAGS setupMike Frysinger
Unify this convention for all Blackfin boards. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2011-04-08Blackfin: drop CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE from boardsMike Frysinger
We don't want/use this value for Blackfin boards, so punt it and have the common code error out when people try to use it. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2010-10-18Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk
The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2010-10-02Blackfin: move CONFIG_BFIN_CPU to board config.mkMike Frysinger
The CONFIG_BFIN_CPU option is largely used in the build system, so move it out of the board config.h and into the board config.mk. It'd be nice to keep everything in the config.h, but the patch to extract that value early was rejected. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-08-11Blackfin: shutdown video DMA when booting LinuxMichael Hennerich
In case there is no frame buffer driver present in Linux to hand over the PPI LCD DMA upon boot, the DMA initiated by u-boot to display the splash screen runs unattended. Therefore always stop the video driver in u-boot before starting Linux. If people don't want this behavior, then they can simply stub out the video_stop() function in their board video driver. 2010-07-13Blackfin: bf533-stamp: scrub unused codeMike Frysinger
Much of the local bf533-stamp.h header is unused, and the few bits that are are only needed in one file. So move the few used bits out and punt all the rest. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-07-13Blackfin: bf533-stamp: convert eth/flash swap logic to gpio frameworkMike Frysinger
Rather than bang MMRs directly, use the new portmux framework to handle the details. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-07-05Blackfin: switch to common GPIO LED driverMike Frysinger
Now that we have a unified gpio layer, the different status led implementations can be switched to the common gpio led driver. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-04-13Rename lib_generic/ to lib/Peter Tyser
Now that the other architecture-specific lib directories have been moved out of the top-level directory there's not much reason to have the '_generic' suffix on the common lib directory. Signed-off-by: Peter Tyser <ptyser@xes-inc.com>
2010-04-13Change directory-specific CFLAGS to use full pathPeter Tyser
Previously, a specific file or directory could be compiled with custom CFLAGS by adding a Makefile variable such as: CFLAGS_dlmalloc.o = <custom flags for common/dlmalloc.c> or CFLAGS_lib = <custom flags for lib directory> This method breaks down once multiple files or directories share the same path. Eg FLAGS_fileA = <custom flags> would incorrectly result in both dir1/fileA.c and dir2/fileA.c being compiled with <custom flags>. This change allows finer grained control which we need once we move lib_$ARCH to arch/$ARCH/lib/ and lib_generic/ to lib/. Without this change all lib/ directories would share the same custom CFLAGS. 2010-01-17Blackfin: bf533-stamp: split and cleanup CF/IDE codeMike Frysinger
Give the CF/IDE code its own file to keep things cleanly separated. While we're here, clean up the code to use common functions. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2010-01-17Blackfin: kill off useless initdram() usageMike Frysinger
While the initdram() function makes sense on some arches, it doesn't for Blackfin systems as it's always implemented the same way. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-12-21move prototypes for gunzip() and zunzip() to common.hWolfgang Wegner
Prototype for gunzip/zunzip was only in lib_generic/gunzip.c and thus repeated in every file using it. This patch moves the prototypes to common.h and removes all prototypes distributed anywhere else. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Wegner <w.wegner@astro-kom.de>
2009-10-04Convert SMC91111 Ethernet driver to CONFIG_NET_MULTI APIBen Warren
All in-tree boards that use this controller have CONFIG_NET_MULTI added Also: - changed CONFIG_DRIVER_SMC91111 to CONFIG_SMC91111 - cleaned up line lengths - modified all boards that override weak function in this driver - modified all eeprom standalone apps to work with new driver - updated blackfin standalone EEPROM app after testing Signed-off-by: Ben Warren <biggerbadderben@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-07-18stdio/device: rework function naming conventionJean-Christophe PLAGNIOL-VILLARD
So far the console API uses the following naming convention: ======Extract====== typedef struct device_t; int device_register (device_t * dev); int devices_init (void); int device_deregister(char *devname); struct list_head* device_get_list(void); device_t* device_get_by_name(char* name); device_t* device_clone(device_t *dev); ======= which is too generic and confusing. Instead of using device_XX and device_t we change this into stdio_XX and stdio_dev This will also allow to add later a generic device mechanism in order to have support for multiple devices and driver instances. Signed-off-by: Jean-Christophe PLAGNIOL-VILLARD <plagnioj@jcrosoft.com> Edited commit message. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2009-06-15Blackfin: enable -O2 in lib_generic/ for ADI/Bluetechnix boardsMike Frysinger
Building the compression code in lib_generic/ with -O2 rather than -Os gives a nice speed boost without too much code size increase. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-06-14Blackfin: unify u-boot linker scriptsMike Frysinger
All the Blackfin linker scripts were duplicated across the board dirs with no difference save from the semi-often used ENV_IS_EMBEDDED option. So unify all of them in the lib_blackfin/ dir and for the few boards that need to embedded the environment directly, add a LDS_BOARD_TEXT define for them to customize via their board config file. This is much simpler than forcing them to duplicate the rest of the linker script. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-04-02Blackfin: bf533-stamp: drop old spi flash driverMike Frysinger
Now that the common SPI flash code supports all the flashes, we can stop using the old driver. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-03-24Blackfin: bf533-stamp: rewrite startup LED notificationsMike Frysinger
Again, don't clobber pins that we aren't actually using, and use the common LED framework rather than our own hob-job-but-not-really-working. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-03-23Blackfin: kill off LDR jump blockMike Frysinger
The Boot ROM uses EVT1 as the entry point so set that rather than having to use a tiny jump block in the default EVT1 location. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-28Blackfin: convert old boards to use COBJS-y Makefile styleMike Frysinger

2009-01-28Blackfin: bf533-stamp: rewrite resource swap logicMike Frysinger
The old swap function tended to clobber unrelated pins and screw up masks. Rewrite the thing from scratch so it only uses the resources it needs. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-28Blackfin: punt unused BF533-STAMP definitionsMike Frysinger

2009-01-28Blackfin: resurrect BF533-STAMP video splash driverMike Frysinger
This video driver used to live in the Blackfin cpu directory, but it was lost during the unification process. This brings it back. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-28Blackfin: drop dead/wrong debug code in initdram()Mike Frysinger
The DEBUG code in initdram() is quite old and was never really useful, so just drop it altogether. Common Blackfin debug code does a better job. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-07Blackfin: fix out-of-tree building with ldscriptsMike Frysinger
Many of the Blackfin board linker scripts are preprocessed, so make sure we output the linker script into the build tree rather than the source tree. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-07Blackfin: fix linker scripts to work with --gc-sectionsMike Frysinger
Make sure all .text sections get pulled in and the entry point is properly referenced so they don't get discarded when linking with --gc-sections. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2009-01-07Blackfin: set proper LDRFLAGS for parallel booting LDRsMike Frysinger
In order to boot an LDR out of parallel flash, the ldr utility needs a few flags to tell it to generate the right header. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2008-10-23Blackfin: linker scripts: force start.o and set initcode boundariesMike Frysinger
Make sure that the start.o object is always the first object in our linker script regardless of configuration settings, and add some linker symbols so the ldr utility can properly locate the initcode when generating a LDR. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

2008-06-12Change initdram() return type to phys_size_tBecky Bruce
This patch changes the return type of initdram() from long int to phys_size_t. This is required for a couple of reasons: long int limits the amount of dram to 2GB, and u-boot in general is moving over to phys_size_t to represent the size of physical memory. phys_size_t is defined as an unsigned long on almost all current platforms. This patch *only* changes the return type of the initdram function (in include/common.h, as well as in each board's implementation of initdram). It does not actually modify the code inside the function on any of the platforms; platforms which wish to support more than 2GB of DRAM will need to modify their initdram() function code. Build tested with MAKEALL for ppc, arm, mips, mips-el. Booted on powerpc MPC8641HPCN. Signed-off-by: Becky Bruce <becky.bruce@freescale.com>
2008-05-21Big white-space cleanup.Wolfgang Denk
This commit gets rid of a huge amount of silly white-space issues. Especially, all sequences of SPACEs followed by TAB characters get removed (unless they appear in print statements). Also remove all embedded "vim:" and "vi:" statements which hide indentation problems. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2008-03-30Blackfin: unify cpu and boot modesMike Frysinger
All of the duplicated code for Blackfin processors and boot modes have been unified. After all, the core is the same for all processors, just the peripheral set differs (which gets handled in the drivers). Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2008-03-30Blackfin: BF537-stamp: cleanup spi flash driverMike Frysinger
This punts the old spi flash driver for a new/generalized one until the common one can be integrated. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2008-03-15Blackfin: convert BFIN_CPU to CONFIG_BFIN_CPUMike Frysinger
Stop tying things to the processor that should be tied to other defines and change BFIN_CPU to CONFIG_BFIN_CPU so that it can be used in the build system to select the -mcpu option. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
