2012-10-17serial: Use default_serial_puts() in driversMarek Vasut
Replace the in-place ad-hoc implementation of serial_puts() within the drivers with default_serial_puts() call. This cuts down on the code duplication quite a bit. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <marex@denx.de> Cc: Marek Vasut <marek.vasut@gmail.com> Cc: Tom Rini <trini@ti.com>
2012-10-15serial: Remove CONFIG_SERIAL_MULTI from serial driversMarek Vasut
Remove the support for not-CONFIG_SERIAL_MULTI part from serial port drivers and some board files. Since CONFIG_SERIAL_MULTI is now enabled by default, that part is a dead code. Remove it. 2012-10-15serial: powerpc: Implement CONFIG_SERIAL_MULTI into marvell serial driverMarek Vasut
Implement support for CONFIG_SERIAL_MULTI into marvell serial driver. This driver was so far only usable directly, but this patch also adds support for the multi method. This allows using more than one serial driver alongside the marvell driver. Also, add a weak implementation of default_serial_console() returning this driver. 2012-05-23net: Fix remaining API interface breakageJoe Hershberger
These are all the files which use the API incorrectly but did not get built using MAKEALL -a powerpc|arm. I have no compiler for them, but the remaining issues should be far less than without this patch. Any outstanding issues are left to the maintainers of boards that use these drivers. 2012-05-22net: Remove redefinitions of net.h functionsJoe Hershberger
Some copy/pasted drivers redefine functions defined in include/net.h. Remove these so that the definitions can be changed without error. Signed-off-by: Joe Hershberger <joe.hershberger@ni.com> Acked-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
2012-03-18net/miiphy/serial: drop duplicate "NAMESIZE" defineMike Frysinger
A few subsystems are using the same define "NAMESIZE". This has been working so far because they define it to the same number. However, I want to change the size of eth_device's NAMESIZE, so rather than tweak the define names, simply drop references to it. Almost no one does, and the handful that do can easily be changed to a sizeof(). Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2010-10-28kirkwood: get rid of config.mk filesPrafulla Wadaskar
After moving the definition of CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE to the respective board config files, all Marvell kirkwood board have just a single and common entry in their config.mk files: KWD_CONFIG = $(SRCTREE)/board/$(BOARDDIR)/kwbimage.cfg Replace the only reference to KWD_CONFIG in the top level Makefile by an equivalent setting, and remove all kirkwood config.mk files. 2010-10-20Kirkwood: bugfix: broken early console messagesPrafulla Wadaskar
It has been observed that, the complete u-boot banner does not appear on the console when the system is booted from NAND/NOR/SPI flash. This patch fixes this issue on all Marvell boards by adding board_early_init_f() support Signed-off-by: Prafulla Wadaskar <prafulla@marvell.com>
2010-10-18Makefile: move all Power Architecture boards into boards.cfgWolfgang Denk
Clean up Makefile, and drop a lot of the config.mk files on the way. We now also automatically pick all boards that are listed in boards.cfg (and with all configurations), so we can drop the redundant entries from MAKEALL to avoid building these twice. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2010-10-18Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk
The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. 2010-10-13Kirkwood: dram_init is moved to dram.cPrafulla Wadaskar
For all Kirkwood boards so far dram_init function is duplicated dram_init function is moved to dram.c and relevant code from all board specific files removed If any board needs specific dram init handling than standard one, then, a macro CONFIG_SYS_BOARD_DRAM_INIT should be defined in board config header file and the dram_init function can be put in board specific source file For ex. keymile boards Signed-off-by: Prafulla Wadaskar <prafulla@marvell.com>
2010-08-04Rename getenv_r() into getenv_f()Wolfgang Denk
While running from flash, i. e. before relocation, we have only a limited C runtime environment without writable data segment. In this phase, some configurations (for example with environment in EEPROM) must not use the normal getenv(), but a special function. This function had been called getenv_r(), with the idea that the "_r" suffix would mean the same as in the _r_eentrant versions of some of the C library functions (for example getdate vs. getdate_r, getgrent vs. getgrent_r, etc.). Unfortunately this was a misleading name, as in U-Boot the "_r" generally means "running from RAM", i. e. _after_ relocation. To avoid confusion, rename into getenv_f() [as "running from flash"] Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Acked-by: Detlev Zundel <dzu@denx.de>
2010-06-23Get rid of bogus CONFIG_SYS_BUS_HZ and CONFIG_SYS_CONFIG_BUS_CLK definitionsWolfgang Denk
CONFIG_SYS_BUS_HZ has not really been used anywhere except to be redined as CONFIG_SYS_BUS_CLK; in addition, the mpc7448hpc2 had the bogus CONFIG_SYS_CONFIG_BUS_CLK setting which duplicated the funtionality. Change all this to use CONFIG_SYS_BUS_CLK consistently. 2010-04-21Move arch/ppc to arch/powerpcStefan Roese
As discussed on the list, move "arch/ppc" to "arch/powerpc" to better match the Linux directory structure. Please note that this patch also changes the "ppc" target in MAKEALL to "powerpc" to match this new infrastructure. But "ppc" is kept as an alias for now, to not break compatibility with scripts using this name.
